National H.O.G.® Rally 2011 Kamloops, BC – by John Brewer

The road to Kamloops was a self-induced, but enjoyable, long one. The last short leg from Penticton was some of Canada’s finest scenery, into the Kamloops Lake valley.
After getting set up at the Riverview RV and Campgrounds, I headed into the host hotel to register. The Kamloops Towne Lodge was not that difficult to find, being that the city follows the valley along beside the TransCanada highway. Almost foolproof. Hah!

Registration went smoothly (with the help of Carolyne Sax) and then it was time to kill some time exploring before the opening ceremonies. I declined an offer of cocktails in favor of finding something to eat.
Back at my campsite, I met the other HOG member who was also tenting it for the rally. Ernie was from Olympia, Washington and we soon became friends and hung out for a large portion of the weekend.
The opening ceremonies were in the lower level of the Towne Lodge. I walked in and met up with Carolyne, Renee Kaszas, and Caron Zora-Hertzog. If there’s only going to be three other people from Regina, I can’t think of any better company. For the short amount of time that we saw each other, I mean. More about that later. Read More >>>
